QA/QC consulting - Markus van der Neut

Markus van der Neut holds an MSc in Geology and brings over 37 years of professional experience to the mining sector. He spent 22 years at Anglo American Platinum, where he was instrumental in developing and implementing analytical QA/QC protocols using JMP statistical software. His responsibilities included overseeing QA/QC evaluations of assay results for Platinum Group Elements (PGE), gold, base metals, trace elements, oxides, and various minerals. These evaluations extended beyond South Africa to include operations in Chile, Kazakhstan, and Zimbabwe.

During his tenure, Markus led the design and implementation of Basic3QAQC, an advanced automated evaluation tool developed in collaboration with Octoplus Information Solutions. The system automates complex data evaluations, including replicates, duplicates, standards, and blanks, producing high-level summary reports and comprehensive detailed reports. It also features a module for calculating laboratory method precision, ensuring consistent and accurate analytical performance.

In addition to his technical expertise, Markus authored multiple QA/QC training manuals and provided training to geologists and laboratory staff, both internally and externally. His work has significantly contributed to improving data integrity, operational efficiency, and analytical reliability across multiple international mining operations.
