Although Octoplus started using PHP in 2000, some of Octoplus' developers have been using PHP since 1997. Octoplus created its own workflow engine and introduced Model-View-Controller (MVC) technologies to their development workflow from the start.
CakePHP is a framework that ensures the proper use of MVC in the Octoplus development team, and allows for Rapid Application Development (RAD). These technologies are combined with own developments. Octoplus makes use of the GIT source control system and the Redmine project management application to effectively manage our development cycle. This enhanced approach is considered cutting edge and has been implemented since early 2008.
In order to keep the development team on the cutting edge of recent developments in the PHP and CakePHP world, Walther and Carlos have the privilege of attending the 2011 CakePHP conference in Manchester at the beginning of September. The event is supported by some of the biggest names in the web development field and it is expected that the zenith of PHP developers in the world will be attending the conference, including the core development team of CakePHP.
Octoplus is currently involved in advanced web-enabled systems, focusing on reliable data driven solutions that provide a great user experience and information management. The systems are currently used for eGovernance, Higher Education & Social Research areas. According to Google Africa, Octoplus was one of the first companies to apply the Google Earth API in web-development.
The CakePHP conference includes a 2 day workshop session where the core development team will cover advanced CakePHP development methods. This will be followed by a 2 day conference with presentations in topics such as test driven development, cutting edge methods of data storage, using CakePHP with massive systems and the future of the CakePHP framework.
Octoplus is proud to be implementing web-enabled systems of world class quality and will continue to develop the skills of the team to compete on the highest of international standards. |
